Winter Whites in Season at Oceanaire Seafood Room

At Oceanaire Seafood Room (1201 F Street NW, 20004), winter whites are not only encouraged, they are a staple. Now through March 9th, guests can create their own white wine flight of four vintage tastes from 15 sommelier-selected vintages from around the world. Even though it's cold outside, Oceanaire's goal is to remind guests that white wines are as extraordinary as reds in winter months.

The restaurant team has chosen some safe (wine) bets, but also new wines that patrons may not be as familiar with. Wines on the menu are typical in flavor profiles in the regions they're from. If you're looking for a classic wine pairing, order oysters with Château de la Ragotière, Muscadet Sèvre et Maine from Loire, France. It enhances the flavor of the food and creates a balance on your palate.

Other choices include Trimbach, Pinot Blanc, Alsace, France; Château Beaulieu, Rosé, Coteaux d’Aix en Provence, France; La Caña, Albariño, Rías Baixas, Spain; J Vineyards, Pinot Gris, California, USA; Chehalem, "Ridgecrest Vineyards," Grüner Veltliner, Ribbon Ridge, Oregon, USA; Robert Weil, “Tradition,” Riesling, Rheingau, Germany; Tozai, “Snow Maiden,” Junmai Nigori, Sake, Kyoto, Japan; Gabbiano, “Promessa,” Pinot Grigio, delle Venezie IGT, Italy; Domaine de la Perrière, Sancerre, (Sauvignon Blanc), Loire, France; Giesen, Sauvignon Blanc, Marlborough, New Zealand; Butter Block, Chardonnay, Santa Maria Valley, USA; Castello della Sala, "Bramito del Cervo," Chardonnay, Umbria IGT, Italy; Vietti, Moscato d’Asti DOCG, Italy and St. Supéry, Moscato, Napa Valley, USA.

The flights are priced at $19.  Additional flight tastes above the four can be added at $5 each. Give winter whites a chance during happy hour or dinner at Oceanaire and tell them we sent you! Visit www.theoceanaire.com for more information.
