HH Bespoke Spirits Are All About Making Statements

One thing was clear to me after my conversation with Shay Wood, President & CEO of HH Bespoke Spirits: she and her family are all about making statements that last in everything they do.⁣

They’ve made statements in the fashion industry since 1992 with their custom clothing company, 5001 Flavors, by working with the biggest names in entertainment, like Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Daddy Yankee and many more, even before they were the huge stars we know today.⁣

They followed up by opening the retail expression of 5001 Flavors, Harlem Haberdashery, in a home previously owned by Malcolm X. And now, they’ve established the next extension of their lifestyle brand, HH Bespoke Spirits. With their vodka, gin, and rum collection, they are looking to make their mark in an industry that doesn’t always look like or include them.⁣

⁣Shay is working hard to leave a lasting legacy for her family. And she’s pretty dope too! This is a conversation you want to tune in for, believe me. Watch, enjoy, and go buy HH Bespoke Spirits!

Talero Organic Believes Good Tequila Shouldn't Taste Bad

Five things I learned in my conversation with Ben Carter of Talero Tequila:

  1. Marketing dollars are important! Black spirit owners are competing against companies that have been around since the 1800’s. Talk about a foothold on the market!

  2. Distribution matters. And state governments want their cut.

  3. We can count the number of Black distributors in the United States on one hand.

  4. Lots of tequilas on the market are cutting corners. That’s why it burns when it goes down!

  5. There’s room for everybody!

Thanks to Ben for keeping it allllll the way real about the ups and downs of being in the tequila business, explaining distribution and lessons learned. Please watch, share and buy Talero!
